Let the campaigning cease….It was a long and difficult election season. The good news is it is over. I know another one will be starting soon but let’s breathe our sigh of relief now while we can. As we all knew Nueces County will have a new County Judge in January. While we did not know who it would be we do now. Congratulations to Barbara Canales for being elected as Nueces County Judge. Thank you to Mike Pusley for his years of service.

I have known Barbara for many years. I believe she will be a friend to Precinct 4. I believe she realizes the value of our beautiful beaches and all the other important parts of Precinct 4. I am hopeful Barbara will be the same kind of non-partisan County Judge as Loyd Neal has been. I look forward to working with her.

I also want to take a moment to again thank Judge Loyd Neal for his years of outstanding service to Nueces County. He has truly been a friend to Precinct 4 and all of Nueces County. God Bless you on your retirement Loyd and THANK YOU!!!

COUNTY WIDE DRAINAGE DISTRICT BEING DISCUSSED

There is a lot of traction for a cooperative County wide Drainage District. The Nueces County Commissioners Court is committed to moving this forward. There have been discussions with the City of Corpus Christi, City of Robstown and many of the impacted cities and areas in Nueces County. It is time to take drainage seriously.   The only way this works in my opinion is by working together as a region with our elected state legislators to move this forward. Stay tuned.

PORT A PROPERTY TO BE OFFERED FOR SALE IN A SEALED BID PROCESS

The Court approved moving forward with selling a piece of valuable property in Port Aransas. It will be done in a sealed bid process. The property is on Allister. It is the old jail building that the city had been using as its computer center. The building was damaged badly by Hurricane Harvey. The Commissioners Court decided with input from Port Aransas that the better thing to do is to tear down the building and sell the property. Details to follow.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

We still live in the greatest country in the world. We have so much to be thankful for. From my family to you and yours HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
